The Remedials Reminisce Once Again

Original Post Date: Friday, August 08, 2008

Wowzers! Yet another year with the Remedials, who woulda thought it was even remotely possible! And 2007-Eleven was to be the best and worst year for The Remedials in their turbulent, chaotic and mostly fun career!

Highlights from 2007 include! Because if they weren't highlight they'd be lowlights:
Recorded brand new studio album in stereo "Drop Outta School", "The Binge Tour" track included in Vancouver's Punk As F_ck Compilation (V.P.A.F.) CD, The Remedials play V.P.A.F Compilation CD Release Show At The Cobalt, Remedials photo by legendary punk rock photographer Bev. Davies included in "1,2,3,4 Live Concert Photography" Exhibit at Jem Gallery (was a rad night for The Remedials after playing the V.P.A.F. show they attended the 1,2,3,4 Exhibit the same night) and The Remedials Play CiTR's Shindig at The Railway Club!

Shows The Remedials went to! Because imitation is the highest form of flattery or they were really lazy to come up with anything on their own:
The Queers, Shonen Knife, Polysics, Pointed Sticks, The Zombies, The Methadones, The Manges, Rancid (after the show Gabe had to book to Pub 340 to play a Remedials show), Helmet, Protest The Hero, Frank Black, Architecture In Helsinki, No Means No, DOA, Supersuckers, Air, Motley Crew, GWAR, The Blow, Bedouin Soundclash, Juliette and The Licks, Billy Talent, Moneen, Anti-Flag, Fun 100 and The Bad Amps (their last shows!)

People we'd like to thank! Because if you weren't there with us we'd be the only people at the show not including the bar tender, sound guy and door dude:

Wayne
gives a shout out to: Shannon, Sati @ Livevancouver.com, Pierre @ Pub 340, Wendy Thirteen @ Cobalt and Bryan McCallum
And for lending him a rig: Sangster from Raised By Apes

Lionel

And for lending him a set: Ben from Bound By None

Gabe

Bands we'd like to thank! Because we couldn't have done it without you, no really we needed borrow your gear or we wouldn't be able to play:
Raised By Apes, Auto Switch, Denderah, the POGs, Cobweb Society (R.I.P.), Bound By None, Sinister Black, Boxfiller, Dreams Of Treason, L.T.G., Hector and Doom East Van.
And thank you to all of the bands we played with and borrowed gear and money from! (You probably got the gear back, just don't hold your breath on the cash though…)

Remember Kids Support Local Music Even If It Sucks!

Sound Guys! Because they really have to listen to The Remedials and pay attention:
Pat (has The Remedials sound down) & Denton @ Pub 340, John @ Cobalt (who MacGyver'ed a cab for Gabe using a speaker, patch cord and duct tape), Johnny Wildcat from Mongoose @ Railway Club and Gordon Latham @ Fatality Music for live recordings

The Remedials in 2008…

What do The Remedials have planned for next year? Nothing! With recording a new album would The Remedials have a CD Release Party go on tour and pimp their album out to record labels? No, they would rather go on an extended vacation! Besides they all have other projects to keep them occupied for now. Wayne is in Boxfiller (and sometimes busks by L&M on Terminal) and Gabe is doing the Sid Died For Squid reunion (and has started to learn how to cook food) and Lionel being a really busy dude is in both Boxfiller and Sid Died For Squid (and still has time to do the Sun Run)! Besides, the next Remedial record, if you have been following their studio release schedule would be recorded in October or November of 2009! So let's just say they have plenty of time to waste till then…

"The Remedials remind me of an old manager of mine. His tattoos basically give you an idea of what this band is similar to - 2 Screeching Weasel tats, 1 Black Flag tat, 1 ALL tat, 1 AFI tat, and 1 The Queers tat. Maybe not all those bands apply, but a few of them don't hit too far off. Fun punk rock" dose.ca
