Gabe of The Remedials arrived on the scene with bros. in tow and after about an hour of chatting with the bands and everyone else on the patio finally entered Mike and Kwin of Denderah's house party. Mike's son who's like maybe seven or eight instantly remembers Gabe since the last time he was there cuz in the Denderah household there's a swear jar which Gabe already gave the kid like $10 in advance, he still owes him $20 though. Lionel of The Remedials arrived a bit later and since he was driving stayed outta trouble this night somewhat. Wayne of The Remedials had already started drinking since 3pm (big surprise there) and was questionable whether he'd be showing up at all no one was more surprised to see him there than The Remedials themselves. There's a lot of stuff that went down that night which were gonna leave out at the request of The Remedials P.O. Here's how the night broke down...
The party started with rad performances by Anita Hoare, The Remenants (who played the last house party, The Remedials couldn't remember them cuz they didn't remember even playing themselves) and Denderah. The next-door neighbor didn't like the music (The Remedials hadn't even played yet) and told Denderah to shut it down by 11pm. With three bands left (the POGs, The Remedials and The Weedies) and only a half hour till 11pm will all the bands be able to play? Damn rights, they're all punk bands man!
the POGs ripped thru their set as a three-piece again with more than enough energy to spare we dunno what these kids are on but The Remedials are gonna have to hook it up! With the last song being "The Crusher" Gabe of The Remedials and Kwin of Denderah joined in on the chorus once again. Whenever the POGs play that cover Gabe's spidey-sense will go off he's gonna jump on stage wherever they are The Remedials have always been amazed when: 1) Bands that we'd given our CD to actually listen to it 2) They actually like it well (so they say) and 3) They like a certain song which they can actually name! With The Remedials having only 10 minutes to play we'd figure we could go thru half our set. Once The Remedials were semi-tuned and ready to rock Kevin and Jerry of the POGs requested we play "Superstitious" cuz they wanted to sing along. Gabe of The Remedials was like "Really? Ya got it!". So Gabe goes to Lionel and Wayne let's play this song first to which they're like "Really? No way!". Gabe had to tell em' the POGs wanna sing it to convince em' to play. We dunno about you but it's the coolest thing ever when a band you dig knows your songs, hell these guys know the lyrics to the song better than us! Even cooler was that Gabe only had to sing the verses these guys even knew the pre-chorus (if that's even what its called) and just tried to play guitar. The Remedials blasted thru four songs in well under 10 minutes: "Superstitious", "Possessed", "I Turned Into A Martian" by The Misfits and "The Binge Tour" with the help of the POGs and everyone in the living room singing thru one mike. The Remedials think this was their best show so far that we can remember. Playing house parties are the best and The Remedials wish they could just play house parties for money but since they haven't made any money (only beer) playing shows it doesn't really matter. Look out for Denderah, the POGs and The Remedials 2006 Summer House Party Tour crashing a hood near you!
The last band was The Weedies and we can't say enough great things about these guys! How many times do you get a pro band to play for ya in a living room? Not often and to see these guys play is something else entirely! Scott shredding on guitar and stage antics, Jesse playing the drums like Animal from The Muppet Show and Goonie able drink a bottle of beer while still playing bass is truly amazing! Let's make sure The Remedials don't try that at home cuz they'll probably choke to death. They got the packed house jumping around but ended up shutting things down around 11:11pm so the cops wouldn't show.
The Remedials wanna thank Kwin, Mike and James of Denderah and Mike's wife for taking easy on The Remedials when Wayne almost put Gabe thru the bedroom door where their kid was sleeping. Thanks to the POGs singing along they better jump on stage at the Asbalt show, The Weedies (and The Goon for giving us props on our set) for just being really cool and always putting on a stellar show and Tara and John of The Remenants (who were outta sight!) and Anita Hoare. With a lot of help from their friends The Remedials were able to make it home safe and sound and all went to bed with their ears ringing and smiles on their faces on a job well done. So how intense could The Remedials set be? Well when Gabe woke up in the morning to check his guitar the strings and pickups were covered in dried blood!
