The Remedials Get An A+

Hey kids! With the aftermath that was VPAF Vol. 2 Benefit Show and while the smoke has cleared but ears are still ringing! The Remedials have a ton of props and thank you's they gotta start handing out all because of this show! So with out further ado…

Dan Gillis aka Jerry Demon of the POGs first show with The Remedials resulted in him getting a chipped tooth and ya know what, it’ll only go downhill from there… he still has 206 bones that can still be broken! With the approval of the crowd and more importantly our punk bros. Raised By Apes, Dan’s first show with The Remedials was outta control and couldn’t have gone any better! And now with the first show in the can and Dan’s cherry finally popped The Remedials can now focus on playing more shows to pay for a new record! For those of you who were at the VPAF Vol. 2 Benefit Show you got to hear a brand new song “Test Tube Baby” for the second time if you were at The Bourbon show or the first time if you didn’t but either way it’s the first time it’s been played with Dan, so to keep things from getting confusing let’s just go with the first time. Chipped tooth and Loose Tooth was playing, coincidence or psychic phenomenon? You decide…

Stu from the POGs joined The Remedials on stage for vocal duties on “Superstitious” in which Lionel and Gabe reminisced of the shows of old when the POGs would jump on stage and sing along, which was a great help to The Remedials who at the time would constantly forget the lyrics! Now one of them is in the band, so they don’t forget the lyrics as much as before.

Thanks to Cameron and Steve from VPAF for throwing a rad party! And with the night being an enormous success for VPAF everyone’s looking forward to the Vol. 2 release sometime this year or even maybe in the next few months! And to keep updated on all things VPAF and Vancouver’s punk rock community keep checking out: www.myspace.com/vancouverspunkasfuck

The Remedials would like to thank Picking On Toddlers, Loose Tooth (for lending them a guitar cab) and Raised By Apes (for lending them a bass rig) they had a blast sharing the stage with these rad bands and kinda needed to use their gear too! Do yourself a favor and check these bands out when they play at a venue near you or not near you or really far away for that matter!

The Remedials would like to thank Ryan That Video Guy for documenting The Remedials and giving them their first on camera interview in front of The Cobalt and VPAF for paying for it! Props to the couple that pulled up in a cab jumped out during the interview to get in on the action the jumped back in the cab and took off, Gabe was too slow to give the dude in the passenger seat a CD. Gabe would like to thank the girl who kissed him in front of her boyfriend while they walked by the interview, the girl got a CD and Gabe cop’d a feel.

Thanks to the press who promoted the show some of which included: The Skinny Magazine, The Georgia Straight, The Province, Abort TV, and 99.3 The Fox Punk-O-Rama Show. We love the ink and we’re basically press whores too! If they missed you please let them know nicely. The Remedials aren’t jerks just forgetful sometimes especially names, and phone numbers forget about it ya gotta write that down for em’!

The Remedials would like to thank Bev. Davies, Chuck Wurley, Denis Maile (who jumped on stage with Gabe during R.B.A.) and Turf of The Skinny, Wendy Thirteen, Freddie, John and the bartenders at The Cobalt and thank you to Mr. Plow for giving The Remedials props and for giving Gabe of The Remedials some of the best advice he’ll ever hear!

And most importantly thank you to all the bands on the compilation and the people who attended the show and with your support VPAF Vol. 2 is now a go! And for coming up to the bands after the show and giving them props, chances are you now have The Remedials e-mail address (band@theremedials.net) let em’ know what you’re all about or if you want to interview them or have them play a show! They love getting spammed, just kidding…

Gabe of The Remedials would like to not thank Lionel of The Remedials for having to help him move the next morning after he hung out at The Cobalt till 3am and had only 3 hours sleep before the all day move! 28 days in a month that’s ridiculous, but at least you get your pay cheque a bit quicker so maybe it’s not that bad. Unless you're moving that day...

“...and we’re gonna have The Remedials play” Cam of VPAF “The Remedials! I love those guys!” Mary-Anne of Punk-O Rama Show #422 Air Date: Feb. 26, 2009
